someone else may call you "dear",
and yes - he too, "darling";
and he may well realise my fear
and do the dreaded thing.

while i do not wish to know
i ponder all the same:
how far would this replacement go
and would you call his name?

but life is short and i for one
will not restrain your life:
for i myself move ever on
to seek my future wife!
