i learned to float
i learned to kick
i learned to frog
i learned to flip
i learned to move
i learned to breathe
despite the resistance
and the unseen undulations
i move
forward
one stroke
after another
further and further
into the vast expanse
and the vastness
evaporates
and
distance
becomes near
and i swim
from one end
to the other
