garbled in translation at 3am

she has sought some strange fruit
with seeds that shall grow, trammelling
up to the ceiling of the sky
perhaps to burst through the darkening cloud
that approaches us, ever so innocuously.

she has sought a miracle most unexpected
in all that shanty town a miracle?
in that city of drakes and dragons and duds
where men are fleeced of their conscience

and she is the dog
that has come to bark at the wrong tree
thinking that up this tree there is a monster
most heinous in his misdeeds and must be ensconced
and he had best be repatriated
to another postcode.

and the flower has begun to melt in the heat of the sun!

but even as the flower seems to begin to disintegrate
into its various atoms / molecules / particles
there rings still a dying cry that a wayward bird
calls to the colourful foliage of yore

"I would sooner slit my throat
Than to let my rival gloat
On the hollow victory afloat
On the great river of Life's Waters.
So I shall board a melodious boat
Whose passengers escape the moat
Past the Alligator's Remote
Into the Wide Open Road
To sow my Wild Oats!"

My First Auction Post

He bought it wrongly
And feels quite strongly
That there is no wrong if
He auctions off his
Router for ADSL Modem.

He promises freedom from wires
And fulfillment of other desires
To say the least of what he aspires
For this little planned venture.

So, good sir and good madam,
Be good and fill our quorum,
Bid for router with passion,
Cure my friend's conundrum,
And we shall all be gleesome.

So now, good sirs, we surf!
Beyond the blogger's turf
To the page with "NO RESERVE"
And you place a pretty price
That you feel this item deserves!

Chinese New Year is Coming....

Chinese new year is coming!
So let's say "Happy New Year" in Tamil!

How to say it?

"Happy New Year!"
(Just Kidding!)

OK. For real now:

"Puta Anden Valtukel!"

Valtukel = Celebration

Just like "Happy Deepavali" is "Deepavali Valtukel"

Well. For the Chinese New Year...
We can listen to online music from Beijing!

http://fm974.tom.com/

tamillogy: was it delicious?

How do you say: "Was it delicious?"

Tamil: "Unauu Suweya-i Irendedaa?"

Suweya = Taste.
Unauu = Food.
I suppose "Irendedaa" means delicious.

Answer: "Amam, Suweya-i Irendedaa."
(Yes, it was delicious)

Amam = yes.

injection-molds.blogspot.com

Though my mind's fatigued
I am quite intrigued
By the thought of manufacture
and prospective income secure.

To think of the moulds
and of the goods
That will soon be sold:
What a gain produced!

fast fwd into 2005

let me tell you about my last week.

Monday:
Meeting with housebuyers at Taman Len Seng.
Special request of Datuk Tan Chai Ho.
Plus the fact that my dad is Putrajaya Division (MCA) chairman.
And also he is the Wilayah MCA Legal Bureau Chairman.

The housebuyers had bought individual lots in a building...
RM30k + each.
They signed a leaseback agreement to the developer...

Tuesday:
Went gym in evening.

Wednesday:
Had critical dinner / meeting.
Planning meeting for committee to discuss final details of the Jan 22nd Fund Raising Dinner.

Thursday:
FRee.

Friday:
First day of the Rotary International Centennial Conference, 2005.
To celebrate the 100 yrs of Rotary, we have a 3 day conference.
My dad paid in advance, and in full.
He had paid since last September!
Benefit: A scrumptious dinner at the Putrajaya Marriot (a.k.a. "IOI Resort")

Saturday:
Had a supposed "Press Conference" with the housebuyers from Monday.
But the "Press Conference" was hijacked.
Someone had told the press not to come.
Sabo... sabo... sabo... SABO-tage.
Needless to say the presence of 7 lawyers was all for naught.

Afternoon, had the "Life Long Learning" Programme.
We did not do anything but sit around at the "booth".
Seven of us.
No refreshments were provided, and it was a real big bummer.
When we wanted to leave at 4pm, the man in charge quickly ran and got the refreshments for us.
Sincere? I doubt it.

Evening, went for the wedding of a friend.
She'd married the bloke after slightly more than half a year's worth of "courtship".
His granny had passed away in December.
She was over 92 yrs old.
According to Hokkien customs, you have to marry within the span of one month.
Or you can choose to cool all plans for the next 3 years...
I guess she probably did not mind the guy being a fat boy and all...

Sunday, the last day of the Conference.
I'd paid well over RM350 just to have a dinner on the 7th and Lunch on the 9th.
But my dad's friend thinks that I should participate actively in Rotary.
She wants me in as the new Treasurer Assistant.
She said that money is safest in the hands of lawyers...
They can't count well, but they can keep well..
I wonder where she got that idea from?

In evening, went for a nice quiet dinner with friends.
Basically trying to iron out last minute details of the Jan 22nd dinner.
Especially the bit about his friend being the clown.
And the bit about our friend "Amazing Grace".

Memorable incident happened on Sunday evening.
Friend called up when we were going to the sea food restaurant.
He said that he needed transport from Paramount Garden to University Hospital.
reason: His friend had swallowed 40 Panadol pills.
Somehow someone gave him a ride from Paramount (clinic) to UH.
We were to send him from UH to Paramount ... to collect the girl's coat.
And from Paramount to 1 Utama ... to collect the girl's car.
and from 1 Utama to BU 4 ... to park the car.
and from BU 4 to Selayang ... to send him home.

And now to this week.

Monday was busy... I met Takhoe, my friend from school.
His company Z-Naps.com is taking off and he's planning a free newsletter.
Gave him some ideas and he really liked one particular idea...
And it's ... oops, I can't say! :-)
But i can when it has become successful.

Tuesday:
Decided that I absolutely have to go to gym.
I went.
I saw.
I exercised :-)

Tomorrow:
God knows what will happen...
But I've got another MCA meeting lined up in the evening.
Guess these MCA meetings will stop me from participating in Rotary Lembah Damansara...
Their meetings are Wednesday evenings also.

Maybe I should write a bit about the countdown i had.
I went to my dad's friend's house...
She is the incoming President of Lembah D'sara Rotary.
I got to know her a little better.
She has been quite active in MCA since the 1970's.
And she has 7 children.
One of them owns Thomson ....
That fantastic company that sells gingko biloba.
She always boasts about her children...
"My son bought this nice house for me"
"My children bought me a Waja and want to get me a chauffer"
"My children give me RM10,000 every month!"
"My children pooled together money of RM100k and want me to go shopping and travelling around the world!"

Well, she's really fortunate.
And maybe she's justified in her boasts.
I told her: "I hope that I can be like your children one day."
She said: "Don't worry, I think you will."

The New Year Starts With a Splutter

the weekend was an utter splutter... the old form sixers gathered on dec 31st, each wary of the questions that the others would pose to them. Got a boyfriend ? Getting married soon ? What's your job ? What's your pay ? All these and others made the meeting , from the outset, a very tense and heady experience.

we had quite a meeting, converging out experiences of life over at the coffee bean of the curve, damansara perdana. Indeed some had turned out to have become posers; others have ambled along the slow trajectory of their nonchalant lives and have gone on to do more interesting things. one is teaching down syndrome kids over at the kiwanis home. another is teaching at a church run private school. yet another has become a gold quester...

all these things were strictly "you know i know" .. none of the words spoken between us were supposed to leak out. yet while we yakked the night away there was a sense of surreptitiousness.. some of us had not fully disclosed the truth of our lives to the others around us. as surely as an onion has rings, so too does society have rings. there are circles of friendship and i fear i remain on the outskirts of their friendship. i am an outsider.

were that i could command another tsunami and wash us pretenders all away!

http://www.geneseo.edu/~gsci205/tsunami/tsunami.htm

pray for peace and hope for the tsunami survivors.
