a beatiful sunday with the M&AA

The weekend started off innocently enough.

James and Jeremy are into their final leg of the chase to start their very own Japanese Restaurant Business; doubtless the name of the restaurant will not be that, but that's what it is: Japanese Restaurant Business, with capital letters, because the end of it is Business (with a capital "B"), and its aim is pure profit.

I had to meet James with my old jalopy, to obtain the documents from him. In the end, I had the documents, and had a blast of a time reading through them. The deal seems legitimate; the documents are in order. But some peculiarities need to be sorted out.

Things that piqued my interest this weekend:

1. Small Form Factor PC's.
2. MP3 capable Portable CD Players
3. Malay mythology

Just a memo to dear old me. The brain cells are dying and there's hardly a convenience store that sells replacement brain cells. Small, Regular, or Large? I'll take Extra Large, if that's available, thank you very much.

Friends make pact to make business go
Business not easy as statistics show
Friends get bunch of funny papers
Are told to sign and return them later
Friends send papers to the funny man
The lawyer friend who says "I can"
Lawyer friend looks and says "You can't"
He wonders if he'll be called a c*nt
When the business partners gather
And he tells them the serious matter.



On second thoughts, I've had a relatively "tame" Friday/Saturday. Wonder what happens all over the world on Friday? Non-stop partying all over the globe, that's what. The party starts from the land of the rising sun, and continues from coast to coast. Friday night is halfway through in Japan, it starts in India, and soon after blasts wide open in Europe, continues all the way across the Atlantic, and pretty soon it's Saturday night live back at Japan, and the whole process continues across the globe right to Sunday, whereby the East Asian chopstick culture countries start sobering up, from sake in Japan to soju in Korea, right to rice wine in China and so on, so forth. I wonder which drink it's hardest to sober up from?

It's comforting to know that peoples all over the globe also face Mondays... an affliction not uncommon ;-)

tamillogy : "See you again"

Tamillogy.
Wonder if there is such a word.
Nevertheless, to document a phrase i recently learned, here goes:

How do you say "See you again" in Tamil?

Easy.
It goes:

"Meeendem sandi pom"

"Meendem" gets stretched out.
"Sandi" is kinda short.
and "Pom" is just that -- "pom".

"See you again" = "Meendem sandi pom"

this is the weather report.
it's raining cats n dogs in kuala lumpur on a bleak thursday afternoon.
cats and dogs, like poodles and puddles.
have a kit kat.

ripple rock

a rock, a pebble, a stone

airports departures and arrivals

i had the chance today
to send a friend away

to a faraway land
for a year to spend.

where might this country be?
its name is "Italy".

i hope this friend of mine
will find her peace of mind,

and excel in the path
chosen in the love

for fashion. and this
may well spell her bliss

for one whose life has been
a constant pummelling.

i bet she will astound
the people all around

the city with her wit
with interesting little bits.

and she may well find
herself adapt in time

to take the final test
and graduate the best.

i walked about the hall
and saw the people all

mill about in groups
seeking a place to suit

their weariness. but they
in "departures" seemed quite gay

gay -- as in "happy" --
not a guy who's "sappy" --

in pomp and gaiety
and the old ceremony

of advice before they left:
to not be simply heft

to some frail oblivion;
but shine as fair as zion!

their friends and family
would chide them merrily

and speak in tones earnest;
invariably, success was the urge.

i see departures, and i see hope.

then down three floors i loped

a monkey to behold;
and so the tale unfolds,

i came to the arrivals.
people walking in the aisles

and they looked kind of tired
as though they had just sired

our future national
malaysian team (it's football!)

their families were standing
in droves outside, wawiting

for the ordinary heroes
made of normal janes and joes

who travelled to foreign shores
and came back, all the more

richer, for the time
spent in foreign climes.

i saw hope in their returning
and i hope my friend is thinking

of returning to these shores:
this land of mouldy bores

and confusing politics
(can you say what it is?)
